Need a good laugh? Want to see the up-and-comers of the comedy world? Get ready, because “The Second City’s Happily Ever Laughter Tour” is coming to The Rep.
The traveling comedy tour will do 14 shows in 10 nights, which are set to start April 30 and run through May 10.
The Second City draws on classic material from its rich history of comedy and develops scenes from everyday headlines to bring laughs to the audience.
The Second City, which first opened its doors in Chicago in 1959, is the old stomping grounds of many of today’s great comedians, including Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Bill Murray, Keegan Michael Key, and current Saturday Night Live stars Cecily Strong, Tim Robinson and Jason Sudeikis.
Chris Farley, John Candy, Dan Akroyd, Jim and John Belushi, Tim Meadows and Jerry Stiller have also performed at one time or another for The Second City.
“From John Belushi to Tina Fey to Stephen Colbert, The Second City alumni define comedy in America,” Bob Hupp, The Rep’s producing artistic director, said in a news release. “You’ll want to be the first to check out the rising new stars on their all-new tour.”
Tickets are $35, but only a $25 add-on for series subscribers, and can be purchased here. FlexPass holders can use their passes for this show. The curtain goes up on the first show April 30 (Wednesday) at 7 p.m.
