The calendar may be heating up just as the weather cools down, but I’m definitely making time for these November musts.
Market Hopping
Sure, November marks the official beginning of the holiday shopping season, but I’ll be doing my best to avoid the big box stores and hit up local markets instead. On my list is the Bernice Garden Fall Vintage and Craft Market on Nov. 23 for unique, local finds.
Fall Foliage
I’ve never been a fan of the term “leaf peeping,” but that won’t stop me from catching the colorful show that only happens once a year. Early November is typically the best time to see the transformation in central Arkansas, right between the northern part of the state’s jump start in late October and the southern and delta regions in mid-November.
Gala Season
It wouldn’t be a Soirée roundup in fall if it didn’t mention at least one snazzy event. From Opus to Breath of Life, Starry Starry Night to Art & Soul, go get dressed up and find an event benefiting a cause you care about.
Lights Across the River
Forget the hustle for a minute and do a little time travel at this annual Argenta fest. Carolers and an old-fashioned market dot the streets while festivalgoers get in on horse-drawn carriage rides, food trucks and a tree-lighting ceremony, all while celebrating the grand opening of Argenta Plaza.
Neighborhood Fun
Big, city-wide events are great, but there’s something about the smaller neighborhood gatherings that are much more cozy. Keep an eye out for activities like Holidays in The Heights — an annual event that encourages lots of sidewalk strolling and cider sipping — to help you kick off the holiday season.
