The Innovation Hub Announces Spring Class Line-up

Start out the new year acquiring a new skill with the help of The Innovation Hub in North Little Rock. The Innovation Hub offers a wide variety of educational classes that include both art and “make” subject matters. The classes meet once a week for four weeks, and the price of the class covers any necessary materials (with the exception of the Bookbinding Class.)

February

Ceramics
Learn how to make ceramic pinch pot objects. We will make functional bowls, cups, jars, and teapots using the pinch pot technique.

Price: $110 for non-members; $40 for members (includes materials and firing fee)
Timeframe: four weeks on Thursdays (2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23)
Class time: 6:30-8 p.m.
Age: 17+

3D Design for 3D Printing
Learn to 3D model with free software including, SketchUp, Sculptris, and 3DSlash. Learn the basics of file prep for 3D printing in Meshmixer.

Price: $70 for non-members; free for members
Timeframe: four weeks on Tuesdays (2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28)
Class time: 6:30-8 p.m.

March

Transfer Drawings: Trace Monotyping
Not a painter or don’t feel your drawings are gallery ready? No worries! Participants will learn to paint or trace their designs from transparent surfaces onto prepared paper or fabric using colorful inks. Options to add additional paints, pastels, or other mediums are welcomed.

Price: $70 for non-members; free for members
Timeframe: four weeks on Tuesdays (3/7, 3/14, 3/28, 4/4)

Class time: 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Age: 17+

Screen Printing 101
Design and print your own posters or T-shirts! Topics covered include: Designing for one-color and multi-color prints in Adobe Illustrator, screen printing inks and press setup, curing times and screen reclaiming. Classes take place in the Digital and Screen Printing studios. Participants will receive one mesh screen and one squeegee.

Price: $120 for non-members; $50 for members
Timeframe: four weeks on Mondays (3/6, 3/13, 3/27, 4/3)
*No class on March 20 (Spring Break)
Class time: 6-8 p.m.
Age: 17+

Intro to Coding
Coding can be a difficult subject to get into, but our Intro to Coding class will help you learn the basics of Python and C++ with Arduino. Python is an easy to read, multi-platform language that is useful for basic programs and scripts. C++ on Arduino is coding to control physical components such as motors and sensors.

Price: $70 for non-members; free for members
Timeframe: four weeks on Tuesdays (3/7, 3/14, 3/28, 4/4)
*No class on March 21 (Spring Break)
Class time: 6:30-8 p.m.
Age: 16+

Beginning Bookbinding
Students will be guided through making a simple book press and cloth-bound book approximately 6×9 inches. All materials provided. It is suggested that students bring a bone folder to the first class. Bone folders are available locally at Art Outfitters.

Price: $90 for non-members; $20 for members.
Timeframe: four weeks on Wednesdays (3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/29)
*No class on March 22 (Spring Break)
