The Heights is raising a glass to becoming an entertainment district. Beginning Thursday, Nov. 18, patrons can legally drink while strolling The Heights, and the neighborhood is kicking things off with a celebration starting at 4 p.m.
The Little Rock Board of Directors authorized the new temporary entertainment district in September to encompass two stretches of Kavanaugh Boulevard in The Heights neighborhood as a means to support outdoor dining.
Customers must purchase beverages from one of seven authorized beverage locations and enjoy in the outlined areas of Kavanaugh Boulevard. Wristbands and specific cups will be provided by the authorized locations.
“The Heights Business Association is thrilled to be granted status as an official entertainment district,” says Heather Smith, owner of Domestic Domestic and association member. “Not only does this move support the restaurants and bars among us, but simultaneously supports all business within the district. Without the status, a parton may only visit one destination on this particular night. With this move, one could easily enjoy all the businesses. And with the holiday season approaching, the timing is just perfect!”
Here are the seven authorized locations:
- Boulevard Bread Co.
- Baja Grill
- The Pizzeria
- Heights Taco & Tamale
- Zaza’s
- By the Glass
- US Pizza
The district’s boundaries include the section of Kavanaugh Boulevard west from University Avenue to North Polk Street, as well as Kavanaugh Boulevard east from Cantrell Road to the intersection of Club Road and North Van Buren Street.
