The Go! Mile Returns Saturday

It’s time to lace up your sneaks for a quick lap around the park. The Go! Mile is back.

From our friends over at Go! Running in The Heights, this annual event is now celebrating its fifth year with a new start time and a new course. This year, the first heat starts at 7 a.m., and it all goes down at the Clinton Presidential Center this Saturday, June 20.

So what is the Go! Mile? It’s a family fun run that really is just—you guessed it—one mile long. And since the course is so short, there are people cheering you on the whole way, and even a big finish line. It also serves as a national RRCA championship race, and is open to runners of all abilities and ages.

The heats include age brackets, an elite runners race with ridiculous finish times (last year’s winning time was 4:07), a half-mile for kids ages 9 and under, as well as The First Mile, a heat designed for newbies with zero pressure, just fun.

In fact, that goes for the whole event, but it doesn’t end there. New to this year’s run is the Victory Lap Pass, an armband you receive for participating that will get you special discounts, offers and gifts throughout the weekend at different Little Rock landmarks like the Clinton Library, Museum of Discovery and even the trolleys.

In addition to the fun, proceeds from Go! Mile 2015 will benefit the Winston Penn Wardlaw Memorial Fund, a scholarship program set up for students who wish to attend the Little Rock Catholic High School for Boys.

Registration closes on June 18, so make sure you get in now. Click here to claim your spot. You can pick up your packet in style between 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Friday at Go! Running, 1819 N. Grant Street, where there will be a tent sale, food, prizes, a live broadcast from Wes Moore of The Source 93.3 and more.
