We’re ready for our close-up, Mr. Kubrick.
The fourth annual Little Rock Picture Show once again rolls into town on Aug. 6-9. Filled with all things strange and wonderful, this festival features the best of SciFi, horror and fantasy films from all over the world, including many from filmmakers in our own backyard.
Formerly known as the Little Rock Horror Picture Show, this event is a branch of the Little Rock Film Festival, which means it’s full of the panels, demonstrations and entertainment you’ve come to know from the LRFF. They’re even hosting a free screening of “Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior,” and bringing back the live film score performed on stage by Mainland Divide to the vampire film that started it all, 1922’s “Nosferatu.”
As for the name change, the festival powers-that-be explained the switch at the end of last year’s fest and on their website:
“This event has been successful for three years and we will continue to grow it as we go. As a part of that growth, we’ve made the decision to shorten the name a little bit in an effort to grow this festival’s reach. Ever since the beginning, we’ve wanted the Little Rock Horror Picture Show to be more than just horror. We’ve wanted to include SciFi and fantasy, anime and other forms of animation and any kind of cool acts we can put on.”
The 2015 fest will take place at various locations around the city, such as Vino’s Brewpub, the Studio Theater, the Public Theater and of course the Ron Robinson Theater. For a full lineup of events, click here. To get individual tickets or weekend passes, click here.
The Little Rock Picture Show is coming up August 6th-9th. Passes will be on sale soon for only $30!
