Dr. Buster Lackey is one of Little Rock’s top mental health executives. He has more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field and specializes in trauma and grief counseling.
Lackey serves as the executive director of NAMI Arkansas, the local nonprofit branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, advocating for the rights of people with mental illness and providing education and support to those in need. He has also worked diligently throughout his career to build awareness and support of the mental health and wellness of first responders.
Outside of work, Lackey enjoys spending time with his wife Dr. Crystal Lackey, his three daughters and his son-in-law. In his downtime, he can often be found at TAG Church, the skeet shooting range, perusing a good antique shop or at the lake.
Lackey believes there is much more work to do in the state to continue bettering the lives of those affected by mental illness. He plans to continue his work with first responders to help keep their mental health and wellness from hiring to retiring.
Lackey’s current favorite quote is “Just close your eyes and go.”
