In years to come, I imagine we’ll look back at December 2020 and wax un-poetic about what a bizarre holiday season it undoubtedly was. But right now, even though we know the times are strange, we’re tasked with finding the tinsel lining. Here’s how to have a bit of normalcy this month.
Scenic Fun
Turns out some of your favorite seasonal activities are pandemic-friendly. Who knew? Drive-thru light displays and rural tree farms with the fam are still on for 2020, and they honestly don’t look much different than years past. Sherwood’s Enchanted Forest, here we come.
New Views
On the other hand, many of our city’s holiday traditions are based around in-person entertainment. But while parades and grand concerts aren’t on the agenda, you can still cozy up at home and take in various art institutions’ holiday offerings virtually. And if you’re itching to get out of the house, catch a classic movie at the MP Outdoor Cinema or North Little Rock Drive-In.
Local Flavor
Watching Little Rock go all in for local businesses has been a major highlight this year, and we encourage you to do the same with your holiday spending. Skip the big box stores and pick up stocking stuffers from The Toggery, WFH musts from The Social Type or sparkles from Sissy’s. And when planning your menus, look for holiday packages from your favorite restaurants. Are you a Loblolly hot chocolate devotee? Or maybe a Rock Town hot toddy is more your speed? Whatever poison you pick, make sure it’s local.
Humble Hearts
