Warm socks, rosy cheeks and a healthy dose of holiday spirit? Check, check and check. Now it’s time to go and enjoy all the festivities the capital city has to offer in December.
Merry Markets
Holiday markets kicked off in November and they’re only getting better. Check out the Christmas Market at Heifer Village for fair trade goods and tasty goodies on Dec. 7, or the SoMa Holiday Market with neighborhood fun filling the The Bernice Garden on Dec. 6.
Tinsel & Twinkle
I wasn’t kidding about the warm socks. Bust them out and do some exploring to experience central Arkansas’ Christmas tree farms and parades (downtown’s Big Jingle Jubilee Holiday Parade is set for Dec. 7), then hop in the car and hit the drive-through light displays like the Trail of Holiday Lights in Sherwood’s Enchanted Forest.
Shut My Mouth
Decadent eats are a given this time of year, and that includes the annual Say It Ain’t Say’s sweet potato pie contest at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center’s holiday open house on Dec. 8. And yes, attendees get to sample the goods. Have mercy.
Sing We Joyous
It’s no secret Little Rock has some of the best performing arts the state has to offer, and they all come out with bells on for the holidays. Don’t miss annual concerts and shows from the River City Men’s Chorus, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Arkansas Chamber Singers, Argenta Community Theater and much more.
An Honorable Quest
There’s nothing like wrapping your mittens around a warm mug after a day out in the cold. The mission? Find the city’s best hot drink — hot chocolate, hot toddy, hot wassail, whatever your taste — and make it an annual tradition to return and enjoy. I’ll drink to that.
