Bookworms, rejoice. The sale your shelves have been craving is back again.
Thanks to the next Friends of Central Arkansas Libraries (FOCAL) Used Book Sale on July 11-13, your shelves (and wallets) will have never been happier.
As the CALS Main Library continues to undergo extensive renovations, the summer sale will take place at the Port Industrial Hub at 7773 Sloane Drive, where CALS administration offices are currently located.
Sale hours are 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, where paperback books will be available for just $1, hardbacks for $2 and teachers get an extra 25% off. A FOCAL membership will get you into the preview shopping event on Thursday from 3-5 p.m.
Despite the construction, CALS is encouraging neighbors to continue donating books to help fuel these seasonal sales, with hopes of hosting them even more often. Donations can be made at most CALS locations Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The book sale helps provide funds for the library’s Six Bridges Book Festival, Summer @ CALS, Arkansas Sounds concerts and other public programs across CALS’ 14 branch locations.
“The CALS Used Book Sale continues to be one of our most popular programs as it offers a service to the community and provides funds that help support other library programs,” CALS Development Specialist Lily Kauffman says. “We’ve enjoyed seeing the support and enthusiasm for the sale continue at our new location.”
