According to recent data from the CDC, more than twice as many Arkansans die by suicide than from homicide each year. The BridgeWay is an organization that has been working to bring that number down for more than 30 years through a variety of inpatient, outpatient and transitional programs for mental health issues across the spectrum.
As part of The BridgeWay’s outreach, the organization will host an Out of the Darkness community walk in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention on Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Clinton Library.
Out of the Darkness is not only a walk, but a gathering that brings together resources for raising awareness of mental illness and suicide, a rose memorial, activities of hope and healing and more.
Registration begins at noon with the opening ceremony scheduled for 2:30 p.m., followed by the walk at 3 p.m. and the closing ceremony at 4 p.m. For more information on Out of the Darkness 2016, click here.
