It’s go time, givers!
You’ve been seeing this little green logo across the sites and social medias of your favorite nonprofits for weeks, and now the time has finally come. ArkansasGives — the day the Arkansas Community Foundation and the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance devote an entire day to online giving — is here.
Here’s how it works: You have a 12-hour window to donate online to a local ArkansasGives registered charity of your choice, and every gift helps the nonprofits earn bonus dollars from a $400,000 pool provided by the ACF. Nonprofits even have an opportunity to win bonus cash prizes based on how much you give.
But we’re not going to list the participating nonprofits because there are hundreds of them. Check them out for yourself here.
There are more ways to get involved than by simply donating online. At lunchtime, head down to the Food Truck Fiesta at ArkansasGives Headquarters at 1111 W. Capital Ave. from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. You can donate on the spot, plus each truck is donating a portion of their proceeds to the charity of their choice. The lineup features BlackHound Bar-B-Q, Little Penguin Tacos, Loblolly Creamery and Katmandu Momo.
For details on other events happening around the city, check in on your favorite nonprofits on social media. Many are hosting fundraising festivities throughout the day.
This is the third and final year of the campaign. Organizers have set a goal of $5 million, so let’s get out and make it happen.
