Test Your Sweet Tooth at Cupcakes for Goodness Sake Bake Off

After a successful inaugural year, Cupcakes for Goodness Sake is back and sweeter than ever on Sunday, Oct. 23, at Bespoke-Southern Light Pictures Studio at 2207 Cantrell.

We like cupcakes for any reason, but this sugary gathering is the signature event for CareLink, an organization that provides elderly assistance and family caregivers. CareLink helped 1,119 seniors receive homecare services, gave 65,000 group rides to those needing transportation and delivered more than 514,000 meals to seniors just in 2015 alone.

To keep these programs running, Cupcakes for Goodness Sake challenges local bakers to create tasty confections, and this year their test is to find inspiration in our favorite meal: brunch. The competitor lineup includes the likes of Cupcakes on Kavanaugh, Dempsey Bakery and Blue Cake Company, but also welcomes amateur bakers to show the crowds what they’ve got.

Attendees will get to enjoy the spotlighted sweets along with hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and fun activities. After every dish has been tasted, the entries will be ranked by a panel of judges including the likes of NLRPD’s Officer Tommy Norman and Aspen Smith, the 12-year-old chef who cooked for President and First Lady Obama last year.
