We know you’re already looking forward to this weekend, time on the lake or at the pool and scarfing down some amazing food to celebrate the Fourth of July. We thought we would join you.
To help you daydream at work and drool at the mouth, we have compiled a quick list of must-haves for your July 4 party. There are tons of ways to celebrate our nation’s birthday, but these are just a few we came up with.
Must-Have No. 1: Dips
This isn’t just a must-have for the Fourth of July, it’s a must-have at any party. Dips are almost an American pastime. Be sure and have more than one dip. Some suggestions include french onion, cheese, spinach, salsa, guacamole and BLT.
But to really spice things up, we suggest going with a buffalo chicken dip. It combines everything you love about buffalo wings into something you can dip a chip in. What’s not to love about that? Most of all, it’s simple to make.

Must-Have No. 2: Burgers
Is any grill session — much less a Fourth of July party — complete without burgers? Yea, we didn’t think so either. There is just something that gets our national pride flowing when someone lights up the grill and throws on a few patties. When you add in the lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and other toppings, it’s just too much goodness to think about.
We know everybody has their own burger recipe, but we thought we’d share this recipe to the All-American Burger, just in case. And, c’mon, it’s called the All-American Burger. Is there another choice for the Fourth of July?
This one comes from Country Living.
Must-Have No.3: Lots and lots of desserts
It’s not an American holiday until someone eats their weight in desserts, am I right? You really cannot go wrong with any dessert dish, but a few recommendations are apple pie, peach cobbler and strawberry shortcake.
But if you’re really looking to show off your patriotism this year, we recommend a flag cake. It combines al the favorites, sugar, berries and frosting, and it looks like the American flag! There are tons of varieties when it comes to flag cakes, but this one comes from Taste of Home, and it looks amazing!
