Taste of Tuesday: 5 Smoothie Recipes to Get You Out of the Super Bowl Slumps

Ok, raise your hand if you started out the new year with steadfast resolutions and the best of intentions for bettering your health.

Now raise your hand if the Super Bowl smashed those to smithereens. 

Fear not; you are not alone. If you joined the billions who watched Sunday’s game, you probably took park in consuming the tons of pizza, wings, dips and drinks our fair country put away during just a few hours. 

If you didn’t, congratulations! You probably don’t need any help. For the rest of you (us), here are a few smoothie recipes to get you back on track, and to help with how terrible you still undoubtedly feel.

 

If you need a jolt: Get Up and Go Mocha Breakfast Smoothie

  • 1 1/2 cup strong, cold coffee
  • 2 peeled & frozen bananas
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 or 2 tbps. local honey (to taste)
  • protein powder if desired

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 orange, peeled and segmented
  • 4-6 oz. vanilla Greek yogurt (ex. a 5.3oz container of Vanilla Oikos)

The Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups of unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 2 cups of spinach 
  • 1/2 of an avocado
  • 1 tbs. of roasted flax seeds (they must be roasted for this recipe)
  • 4-5 drops of vanilla stevia
