Taste of Tuesday: 5 Detox Water Recipes to Get You Ready for Summer

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s starting to get a little warm out there. And because this is Arkansas, those nice springtime temperatures will only last about 15 minutes before the humidity sets in and we all start boiling. Comes with the territory, we suppose.

If you’ve tried to get out and enjoy the fresh air with some exercise, you may have noticed your body already has a summertime need for water that is no joke. So whether you’re looking for more ways to flood your system or your just trying to wean yourself off of all those Diet Cokes, flavored and detox water is the way to go, getting all those toxins out and tasting incredible at the same time.

Here are five of our favorites.

Watermelon is a bit of a hydration superhero. It teams up with all that H2O to help flush out toxins and improve liver function, while the mint can help with everything from digestion to nausea to asthma. And oh yeah, it’s delicious.

This combo is coming at you with a blast of vitamin C (and A and K and iron, potassium and calcium). Cucumbers bring all of this while also preventing water retention. Um, yes, please? Summertime refreshment, here we come.

Strawberry + Mango

Who knew strawberries and mangos made such an awesome team? The duo packs powerful punches of vitamins A and C, which help strengthen eyesight and make skin clearer and more resilient. Bonus? They fight bad cholesterol.

Apple + Cinnamon

via Beauty Tips 4 Her | full recipe here

If you’re a sucker for a big bowl of Apple Jacks, try this on for size. Apples boost immunity and are great for your liver, your teeth, your heart and more. Then cinnamon swoops in with a ton of antioxidants and a strong hand in heart health, blood sugar regulation and diabetes prevention. Not quite a heap of breakfast cereal, but still wonderful.

Grapefruit

We’re flying solo on this one because grapefruit doesn’t need backup. Among grapefruit’s list of superpowers you’ll find a boosted immune system and metabolism, reduced stress and kidney stone risk, protection against some cancers and a whole laundry list more. You’re welcome.
