Tabriz 2013 was a Moroccan-themed, two-night event that celebrated 50 years of the Arkansas Arts Center and raised more than $800,000 to benefit AAC art acquisitions and educational programs. The event began Thursday, May 2, with a Moroccan Market Silent Auction. More than 850 guests were in attendance, and the auction raised $93,000. Chaired by Kaki Hockersmith, the main event took place Saturday, May 4, and featured a Super Silent Auction, followed by a black-tie dinner with entertainment by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra String Quartet and Arkansas Festival Ballet dancers. Esteemed guests in attendance included well-known glass artist Dale Chihuly and his wife Leslie. The night concluded with a 50th Anniversary Ball Studio Party, during which 410 guests danced well into the night to the sounds of the Jump Street Band. Top-level sponsors included Dillard’s, Inc. and Harriet and Warren Stephens, Stephens, Inc.
