If you spend your summer days looking for the next opportunity to jump in some water, this may be your new favorite workout.
Stand-up paddleboarding — or as the cool kids call it, SUP — has been on the scene for a while now. You may have even seen a few paddlers in downtown Little Rock. It’s a full-body workout that allows you to take in nature with the chance to cool off at any given moment.
So how do you make it even better? Add yoga.
SUP Yoga 501 does just that by taking small groups out on Arkansas waterways to get their namaste on. Owner JoAnn Camp is certified in yoga, kids yoga, SUP yoga, pilates, spin and personal training.
“Arkansas offers some of the most beautiful waterways in the country,” Camp told our sister publication, FIT Arkansas. “If you want to stay close to the city, the Arkansas and Little Maumelle Rivers offer some great areas. If you are looking to join SUP Yoga 501 for some paddle board yoga, Lake Norrell is the perfect place. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission makes sure it’s safe for swimming, so falling off the board is a necessity.”
Camp takes groups out on most weekends, or you can schedule a session for a private party. No previous experience in yoga or surfing is necessary, you just reserve a time slot and your board and paddle will be waiting for you.
You can find all the details, including registration, at the SUP Yoga 501 website, and follow along on Facebook.
