A new fundraising 5K will make its debut this month to mark National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, the inaugural Stride for a Cure 5K will be held at Two Rivers Park in west Little Rock. The family-friendly 5K welcomes runners and walkers alike, and water and snacks will be provided at the finish line.
Behind the event is Dr. Kim Leverett, former pharmacist and current owner of A Kick Above: A Personal Training Studio. Leverett was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and has been cancer-free since 2014, while continuing to push awareness of the disease and share how exercise played a role in her own survivor story.

Proceeds from the 5K will go to the Arkansas Cancer Coalition, a nonprofit that works with a web of partner organizations “to reduce the human suffering and economic burden from cancer for the citizens of Arkansas.”
Festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. Click here to learn more and register for the event.
