In a lucky turn of events, the Fayetteville-based Cattywampus Co-Op is bringing its eclectic charm to Little Rock for the Spring Bizarre Craft Show artisan market. The event will bring together dozens of Arkansas artisans in downtown Little Rock for the first-ever central Arkansas Cattywampus arts and crafts show.
The Spring Bizarre will be held Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Blue Canoe Brewing Warehouse located at 1637 E. 15th St. The Spring Bizarre will be Cattywampus’ fifth craft show in the state. The group’s winter Wampus Wonderland brought out more than 4,000 people to shop locally before the holidays.
The Cattywampus Co-Op was created by Chad Maupin in an effort to help Arkansas’ creative community expand and develop. Maupin and Stacey Bowers of Bang-Up Betty have teamed up to bring Cattywampus to central Arkansas.
Maupin has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for more than 25 years and has helped develop well-loved brands, including Fayettechill, Houndstooth Clothing Company and more.
“I spent most of my life in central Arkansas before moving to Fayetteville in 2007,” Maupin says. “Once I started Cattywampus, it was always my intention to ‘come home’ and develop shows with my creative friends in Little Rock. My intention is to do much more in central Arkansas and connect our two creative communities.”
Cattywampus is now accepting applications for the Spring Bizarre from statewide and regional artists, crafters and makers. True to show’s name, bizarre and eclectic creators are urged to submit their application online. Vendor applications are open until March 19.
The Spring Bizarre will be free and open to the public. Cattywampus estimates the event will host about 100 vendors as well as food trucks, live music by Jamie Lou and The Hullabaloo and, of course, all the delicious Blue Canoe beer you can (responsibly) drink. But the fun doesn’t stop there — an after-party will go down from 6:30-10 p.m. at the Blue Canoe warehouse, too.
