Hillcrest has First Thursday Shop and Sip, The Heights has Third Thursdays, downtown has Second Friday Art Night and Argenta has its Third Friday Art Walk. And beginning in April, SoMa has a night of its own.
SoMa After Dark is a new event series set to hit Little Rock’s South Main district on the first Friday of each month, offering guests later hours and activities tailored to their specialties.
Although the neighborhood launched an effort in 2016 to claim the fourth Friday, it didn’t stick. SoMa hopes this new date and the addition of new businesses and energy will help solidify this monthly gathering.
“SoMa businesses are looking forward to hosting this free, family-friendly event and enhancing the neighborhood feel of our district,” says Annabelle Rector, owner of SoMa shop Reinvented Vintage. “We love having such a diverse offering of places for people to enjoy. I can’t wait to welcome people both familiar and unfamiliar to our lovely spaces.”
On Friday, April 5, the district will kick off its first-ever SoMa After Dark. Customers are encouraged to stop in at any of their favorite neighborhood haunts, with menu specials and music at South on Main, artisan soaps at Reinvented Vintage, the world premiere of Stone Throw’s Barrel-Soured Doppelbock and more. Get more details on the Facebook event page.
The inaugural SoMa After Dark kicks off at 5 p.m. To stay up-to-date on all things South Main, visit the SoMa website and follow along on Facebook and Instagram.
