Sonny Williams’ Steak Room‘s original owner Andy Agar is back — and working to improve the restaurant in more ways than one.
After leaving the business for 13 years, Agar purchased Sonny Williams’ in October 2015 and he’s now in the midst of a three-phase renovation project, the first phase of which was completed just a few weeks ago.
The biggest change from that phase was the addition of a private party area, which can be divided into two separate rooms and seat up to 55 as one room.
“For the last 17 years when someone called and wanted to do a private party we could say ‘we have a private area but we don’t have a private room,’” Agar said. “They would be entertaining in the main dining area or off in the corner.”
They also painted and installed new woodwork throughout the building. Old artwork has also been replaced with new pieces by local artists and new draperies were installed.
The next phase will be a remodel of the entry way and the final phase will complete a repaint and refurbish of the remaining areas.
The restaurant is also offering a new ammenity: free Uber rides.
“We’ll provide you an Uber driver to bring you down and take you home at our cost,” Agar said. “We needed to get people in the city to come down and have dinner with us.”
The restaurant has also hired an event coordinator to help with facilitating and planning parties and coporate events.
