Why would someone choose Invisalign over traditional braces?
NH: Invisalign is clear (hardly noticeable), removable (you can eat whatever you want) and you can brush and floss like normal. Also, there’s no need for last-minute visits (because Invisalign eliminates loose, broken brackets and pokey wires.) Plus, the treatment in general consists of less visits that are more spread out.
How does Invisalign work?
NH: Invisalign applies pressure on teeth. We scan the teeth and then I digitally plan out the specific movements of each tooth on the software. The plan is broken down into stages and an aligner is fabricated for each stage. Aligners are worn for one week before moving to the next.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
NH: Like braces, it’s dependent on the severity. It could be only a couple of months for people who didn’t wear their retainers after braces or longer for more complex cases with more crowding and/or bite issues. It also depends on compliance. Patients who wear their aligners as instructed normally finish faster!
