The sixth annual Shine a Light on Literacy event will be held Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m., benefitting Literacy Action of Central Arkansas, which provides reading classes for adults and English language skills to non-native adults.
The event will feature music, food and drinks, all in the Governor’s Mansion with Arkansas First Lady Ginger Beebe as honorary chair. Guests will also have the opportunity to learn about low literacy in central Arkansas from several students and tutors who will share their experiences with the program. You can also look forward to a sponsorship auction, photo booth and wine pull.
The Literacy Action of Central Arkansas provides services free of charge and is fully dependent upon volunteers and donor generosity, so make sure to add this event to the calendar for sure.
