Shopping Local with Joey Edwards

Joey Edwards, hairstylist and owner of Salon Joseph in The Heights, dishes on his favorite local buys, caffeine included.

JAMES PERSE white tee from BEIGE

“My approach is to invest in quality basics and build around that. When in doubt, ask yourself WWJDD: What would James Dean do?”

REVERIE MARE Mediterranean sea salt spray from SALON JOSEPH

“This product is extremely versatile and easy to use. It provides volume, texture, natural shine and is a great re-styler on all hair types. Plus, it features botanical ingredients with a focus on sustainability.”

BOY SMELLS candle in Ash from BEIGE

“I want my entire life to smell of palo santo. I love when a scent makes you think, ‘This is who I want to be.’ It’s this one for me.”

EMK Guard Sunscreen SPF 30 from LASERCARE SKIN CLINIC

“Dr. Sanderson and his team keep me up-to-date on the best skin products and treatments for my lifestyle. He uses a preventative approach, which I like.”

BOULEVARD BREAD CO.

“My go-to favorite lunch is the kale salad and a chocolate chip cookie (for healthy balance), and I’m there once a day for coffee. It’s all so good!”

Shop Talk

Top tip for healthy hair:

“Find a salon professional that you trust and cultivate a relationship. I want to know everything about a person and their lifestyle. The key is creating the perfect style, cut, color and hair regimen for how you live. One size does not fit all.”

Worst hair care advice:

“There’s a myth that women need to chop off their hair at a certain age. I don’t subscribe to that idea. In fact, we should avoid the ‘hairdo trap.’ Hair should move and flow. If you have great hair, I say go for what makes you happy.”
