Between the galas and holiday gatherings, there’s no time like the present to don your most opulent adornments. One of the twinkling trimmings catching our eye this season is by Los Angeles-based designer Erica Courtney, an exquisite blue zircon bezel necklace set in yellow gold.

For Courtney, the design was almost divine inspiration.

“As I opened the box of zircons and observed the vibrancy and stunning array of colors, the design for the necklace immediately came to mind,” she says. “I only use the highest of quality materials for my pieces, so there was no question these zircons would be set in 18K yellow gold.”

According to Laura Westlake, owner of Laura B Luxury, this design falls squarely within trend lines for the 2024 event season.

“Expect vibrant, colorful gemstones to feature prominently,” Westlake says. “Bold, chunky pieces — including oversized necklaces and rings — make for a striking style design.”

For proof, look no further than Courtney’s dazzling statement pendant decked with opals, diamonds and tourmaline on an eye-catching yellow gold chain.

“I have always been drawn to the mandala style,” Courtney says, “and these stones seemed like the perfect combination to bring this beautiful pendant design to life.

“This exquisite tourmaline, with its rare and vibrant color, complements the Australian opals flawlessly. I had a feeling this piece would come together beautifully. To bring it all together, I added the striking Paraiba stones, which elevate the entire design.”

But such extraordinary designs shouldn’t be locked away just for the holidays. In fact, Westlake predicts some of the most popular pieces we’ll see in the coming year will be unique, personalized items designed to tell stories that are meaningful to the wearer, as well as vintage designs with timeless appeal.
