The Arkansas Repertory Theatre‘s 2021-2022 season continues with its latest production, “School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play.”
Written by Jocelyn Bioh, this comedy won the 2018 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play as it tells the story of Paulina, the most popular girl at Ghana’s most exclusive boarding school, as she faces off against new girl (and challenger) Ericka.
Taking The Rep stage are many familiar faces from the world of TV and movies, including T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh (of “In Living Color,” “Cosby” and “That’s So Raven” fame), Ashembaga “Ashe” Jaafaru, Nimene Sierra Wureh, Kayla Coleman, Awazi Jaafaru, Aishe Keita, Merrina Millsapp and Yani Simone.
Bringing the spotlight to local creatives, the show will also feature costume designs and textiles from Verda Davenport and Crystal C. Mercer.
Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test are required for all attendees, and masks must be worn at every performance.
“School Girls” runs March 2-20, with opening night festivities set for Friday, March 4. For tickets and more information, visit The Rep’s website. You can also call 501.378.0405 or visit the theater’s box office downtown at 601 Main St.
