Save the Date for the Cattle Baron’s Ball

The Cattle Baron’s Ball: Where heels aren’t required and cowboy boots are encouraged.

After going virtual last year, this relaxed evening benefitting the American Cancer Society is back and will take place on Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Heifer International Pavilion in Little Rock.

The 2021 event will honor UAMS oncologist Dr. Omar Atiq who gained international attention after forgiving $650,000 in medical bills for cancer patients at his Pine Bluff clinic. The goal of this year’s ball is to match that generosity by raising $650,000 to fund cancer research, patient services and a community transportation program to help Arkansans get to and from treatment.

“While cancer is serious stuff, we want to also take a moment to celebrate milestones and honor the positives, like Dr. Atiq’s contribution to his patients,” event emcee Lauren McCullough says. “The Cattle Baron’s Ball is a fun event… and as in years past, I’m pretty sure there’ll be plenty of room for some boot-scootin’!”

The evening will include great local eats, auctions and music from country music recording artist Mary-Heather and The Sinners. Past events have included horseshoe throwing contests, mini chuckwagon races, photo booths and more fun, which we hope to see return for 2021.

Masks are required and social distancing is a must. For more information or to learn about sponsorships, head to the event website
