It’s that time of year when all anyone wants to do is relax on a large body of water because it’s too darn hot for anything else. When the Little Rock heat gets you down, we have just the solution: Rock Town River Outfitters.
The company was the product of owner and senior guide Samuel Ellis’ love for the Arkansas River, according to Rock Town River Outfitter’s website. A Little Rock native, Ellis moved to Colorado in 2011 to pursue a life as a guide for a commercial white water rafting company. Once he returned home, he rediscovered the magic of the Arkansas River and decided to share his discovery with others.
The local kayak rental company offers guided floats along the Arkansas River. Adventurers can choose between the Rockwater Marina to North River Landing route ($45 per person) or the Evening Sunset Tour ($65 per person). Both floats offer unique views of the capital city.
If you’ve never kayaked before, don’t sweat it. Rock Town supplies kayaks suitable for first-time kayakers and experienced boaters alike. In addition, they supply all safety gear, PFDs (aka life jackets) and paddles for the floats.
For more information or to book a float, visit the Rock Town River Outfitters website or follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
