As the dog days of summer inch their way into the rearview mirror, we can’t help but daydream about all the festivals headed our way in the coming months. But not to be ignored, The Natural State’s premier music experience, Riverfest, just announced plans for it’s 40th birthday bash in 2017.
Slated for June 1-4, Riverfest now takes over downtown Little Rock separate from Springfest — the free fest with family and daytime activities set for April 8 — a change that took effect last year. The goal was to accommodate the two distinct audiences the combined festival once struggled to serve: the family-friendly crowd and the music festival crowd.
“We made several changes last year that resulted in a big success for the event,” executive director DeAnna Korte said. “We want to build on that success and make this year’s 40th anniversary the best festival yet!”
The 2016 schedule begins with the wine and craft beer event Flowing on the River on Thursday night, followed by the two-day music festival on Friday and Saturday. Then we all break out the confetti on Sunday with a full day of activities (topped with fireworks, of course) to celebrate Riverfest’s 40 fun-filled years.
The musical lineup won’t be released until next spring, but we’ve already got the first weekend in June blocked off. Learn more about Riverfest on their website and stay updated by following along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
