River Rail Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Free Streetcar Rides

Ding ding!

Today, Nov. 20, marks the the 10th anniversary of the Central Arkansas Transit Authority’s (CATA) River Rail Electric Streetcar service.

Spanning a 3.4 mile-route, the rails connect North Little Rock and downtown Little Rock, crossing the Main Street Bridge, linking places like the Clinton Presidential Center and Heifer International with restaurants, parks, shops and libraries.

The streetcars tote an average of 120,000 passengers every year and are a favorite among tourists and locals alike.

To celebrate the occasion, CATA will host a reception at the State House Convention Center at 11:30 a.m. with speakers including Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola and North Little Rock Mayor Joe Smith. As an added bonus, the five replica vintage streetcars will give free rides all day.

And don’t worry, they’re heated.
