I anchor weeknight newscasts at 5:30 and 9 p.m. for FOX 16. I have a family health segment at 5:30 p.m. and I do special reports throughout the year on stories that impact Arkansans. I absolutely love doing community service for schools, charitable events and organizations. I’m a member of The Little Rock Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, a community service organization, and I’m on the board for Arkansas’ Susan G. Komen. I’m also a motivational speaker on various topics, especially involving grief issues. Read my blog at DonnaTerrell.tv.
PRESSING QUESTIONS:
What are your goals for the future?
This year FOX 16 and I launched “Donna Terrell’s Yoga Warriors Fighting Colon Cancer” in honor of my daughter who died from colon cancer. It’s a free community-wide event. My biggest goal is that it will make an impact each year, promote healthy lifestyles and hopefully save lives. Follow us on twitter @YogaWarriors_.
Knowing what you know now, what’s the best advice you could have given yourself when you were first starting out?
I would have told myself “relax, it will all work out.” Early in my career I stressed about everything. I have finally learned the benefits of “emotional relaxation.” Looking back though, that “stress” was my driving force to work harder.
How do you define success?
I believe it’s a state of mind. You have to feel it inside. But I’ll say the most successful thing I’ve ever accomplished was raising my daughter. Being a mom is what I’m most proud of!
Who is your role model?
There’s no one person. I find inspiration through so many people who’ve touched my life. Some of them don’t even know it. In simplest terms, I get inspired by progressive, positive thinking people who won’t take “no” for an answer.
How did you know this is what you wanted to do?
I knew in high school I wanted to be a television news anchor/reporter. I was bitten by the “reporting bug” in the 10th grade, when I went to a journalism workshop and returned vowing to major in broadcasting in college.
What is your best personality trait?
I’m genuine. What you see is what you get both on and off air.
