I started working at UCA in March 2014. Prior to that, I spent 12 years in the television broadcast industry, most recently as a news anchor for KATV Channel 7 (I was better known then as Christina Muñoz). I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the anchor desk but was looking for a schedule that allowed more flexibility as a mom to my two daughters, Sydney, 5, and Reagan, 2. After a lot a prayer, I took a leap of faith and made the switch to higher education.
PRESSING QUESTIONS:
Why do you love your career?
I get to work at an incredible institution that helps numerous students during some of their most formative years. These young adults will be the next generation of doctors, nurses, teachers, lawyers, etc. I love being a small part of that.
What are your goals for the future?
Professionally, to create a communications team that will get the word out about the great things happening at UCA. Personally, to be a humble woman of faith, a Godly wife to my husband and the best mom I can be.
If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing?
Probably musical theater. I grew up singing and dancing and performed professionally in Minneapolis years ago. I loved being on stage and I’m a big supporter of the arts, but decided to use my mass communications degree after college.
Knowing what you know now, what’s the best advice you could have given yourself when you were first starting out?
That having children would completely change who I am and my priorities. The funny thing is that others DID tell me that. I just don’t think I really understood it until it happened to me.
Who is your role model?
My dad. He died of cancer in 2005. When he knew the end was near, he told us he wasn’t mad at God, he was glad it was him (and not us), and that he had lived a good life.
