LinkedIn: Adrienne (Jung) Baker
I have been a commercial litigation attorney with WLJ for almost seven years. WLJ is a full-service law firm that has been handling the legal needs of our clients for almost 115 years. My practice primarily centers on banking and commercial lending, creditors’ rights and collections, contract disputes, and title and surety issues, though I also handle cases involving landlord-tenant law, franchise practices and other topics. I started working for WLJ shortly after I graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law.
PRESSING QUESTIONS:
Why do you love your career?
I get to help people every day. It’s a rare privilege to have people entrust you with their most important concerns and problems and allow you to help them find solutions. I am also constantly learning, which keeps things interesting.
If you weren’t doing this job, what would you be doing?
I’d probably be a travel writer. I absolutely love to travel, thanks to my parents who took me all over the country when I was growing up. I’d love to write about all of the little details that made each destination special.
Knowing what you know now, what’s the best advice you could have given yourself when you were first starting out?
Stop doubting yourself. I was very stressed out by what I perceived as others’ expectations of me. I would tell any young lawyer to work hard with steadfast integrity and trust that everything else will fall into place.
How do you define success?
Working in a field I enjoy; cultivating strong and long-lasting friendships and relationships with my clients; exploring new places and having new experiences; spending time traveling, reading and cooking; and serving my community through the Red Cross and other worthy organizations.
Who is your role model?
It’s hard to choose just one. The first that comes to mind is my grandmother. She was unfailingly kind and always positive. She showed me that with a good attitude, you can’t have a bad day.
