Reflecting on her 18-plus years of law practice, Bonnie Robertson states, “I have always halfway joked that practicing family law is basically ‘glorified social work.’ I tell younger attorneys and law students considering this area of law that if they don’t love family law, they should not practice it. Like other areas, the types of cases Robertson Oswalt & Nony handles and the issues my firm works to resolve require a certain type of personality, perspective and patience that not all attorneys will have.”

As to balancing her career and her priorities, she says, “Life is too precious to waste on a career that doesn’t fulfill you. Although I have gone through periods of burnout and questioning whether I should move on from family law, I’ve always come back strong, with renewed energy to truly and positively affect my clients' lives. So until that fire in my spirit is gone, I will be here, fighting.”
Robertson has practiced law since 2001, focusing primarily on family law. She has been married to her husband Brian for 21 years, and they have three wonderful children together: Alexis, who was raised within their blended family, Ethan and McKenna.
