With more than 46 years of experience, Hall has tried more than 350 jury trials including capital cases and argued more than 350 appeals (two in the U.S. Supreme Court, two more as second chair). He’s even tried in a war crimes trial under the Geneva Convention, with his defense of a particular military action winning acquittal for all the defendants on the count of unjustified murder during an African civil war.

Hall is often considered the lawyer’s lawyer because he’s the author of three books and numerous articles on trial practice, criminal defense ethics, and search and seizure law. The fourth edition of his "Trial Handbook for Arkansas Lawyers" was published in 2018. He is a nationally known expert in Fourth Amendment law. The author of “Search and Seizure” by Lexis Law Publishing is in its fifth edition, and his search and seizure blog, FourthAmendment.com, has published current developments daily for nearly 17 years. Hall is recognized in Best Lawyers in America, Criminal Defense and White Collar Criminal Defense, and Lawyer of the Year, 2018 and 2020, and by SuperLawyers. He’s the only Arkansan on the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.
