Tjuana Byrd believes in the village and our responsibility for its upkeep. She started her career as a public defender litigating cases before Judge Joyce Warren in Circuit Court-Juvenile Division. She soon discovered her role in the village was to care for the children and that she was the right fit for juvenile court proceedings.
As a solo practitioner since 2009, Byrd has served as a Dependency-Neglect and Domestic Relations Attorney Ad Litem and as a NLR Assistant City Attorney handling juvenile prosecution of truancy.
She also serves as the Lonoke County Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordinator, which is an entity comprised of various police, state and local agencies that ensure accountability for children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
Her expansive career has uniquely qualified her to understand how the law can be implemented with fairness to provide appropriate services and with firmness to enforce appropriate sanctions.
Byrd is also a committed community volunteer serving on the Pulaski County Council for Youth Services Advisory Board and incoming president of the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas.
