When Chris McNeal joined the law firm of Johnson & Vines, PLLC, he immediately set out to spearhead the firm’s emerging estate practice. Since that time, that practice has blossomed into one of the most noteworthy in the state.

McNeal acknowledges that there are many goals in estate planning, but that his top goal is to reduce opportunities for expensive post-death family conflicts. Having administered numerous estates through the probate system, he has witnessed the very tangible problems associated with poor planning, and he designs his clients’ estate plans with those lurking problems in mind.

He strongly emphasizes the personal nature of each document. “Many people falsely believe that estate planning is simply a matter of getting on the Internet and downloading a form full of boilerplate words and phrases,” he says. “Estate planning is more complicated and personal than that. I want my clients not only to have good documents, but to understand the consequences of each word within them.”

McNeal is a published legal scholar, and Arkansas attorneys have given him high marks for his CLE teaching. Outside of work, McNeal enjoys volunteering with ACCESS Schools, golfing, hiking and teaching Bible class.
