Philanthropy, politics and volunteer service are passions that have become the focus of my life’s work. It is both my responsibility and pleasure to “pay it forward,” and for the past 20 years, I have committed myself to non-profit organizations and political campaigns, raising nearly $4 million. My career in communications and the non-profit sector – as a radio news anchor, executive director for the American Heart Association in Northwest Arkansas and communications director for the American Red Cross Blood Services – serves as a platform for my volunteer work today. As a full-time mother, homemaker and volunteer, I contribute to many causes by creating proposals and marketing/media relations plans, as well as creating and re-launching special events.
Best advice you ever received and who gave it: My mother advised me to always remember the names of people I meet, which has served me well. I am great at remembering names and faces, and I love seeing how good it makes people feel when they know I remembered their name. Who consistently inspires you? My friend Rick Fleetwood is a model volunteer and philanthropist. We have worked on several projects together, and he makes things happen because his heart is always in the right place. I can’t count the number of causes that have benefited from his leadership and generosity. What person do you admire the most? My late stepfather, Dr. Robert E. Kennedy. He created the portfolio management class at the UofA that many of Arkansas’ successful business leaders today credit as the early beginnings of their success.
How will you know when you are successful?
I think I am successful now! Not because I’ve achieved all the success I’ll ever achieve, but because I plan to keep setting goals to achieve. I plan to keep growing and evolving until the end.
Best Day Ever
Personally, when my daughter Eden was born. Professionally, when I was named a finalist in the “Non-Profit Executive” category of the 2000 Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s Business of the Year Awards.
The day my stepfather, Dr. Robert E. Kennedy, passed away. Oh, I miss him so!

Why I Love This
I have always had a deep appreciation for philanthropy and have been volunteering and supporting causes for most of my life. I love volunteerism because anyone can do it and everyone is capable of being a change agent.
