Only a few short days stand between Hogs fans and the Razorback football season opener against the Western Carolina Catamounts at War Memorial Stadium, and the city is celebrating accordingly.

Festivities begin on Friday, Sept. 1, with a "Paint the Town Red" parade and pep rally in the River Market. At 7 p.m., the UA Spirit Squad, Razorback Marching Band and, of course, mascot Tusk VI will march down President Clinton Avenue from the Little Rock Regional Chamber to the First Security Amphitheater. There, fans can join a pep rally to get excited for the season in a sea of Razorback red.

On Saturday, the day begins with a free pre-game festival at 9 a.m. at the corner of Fair Park Boulevard and Stadium Drive, just north of War Memorial. The fest will include food trucks, activities, music and more for all ages, and will wrap up at 11:30 a.m. before kickoff at noon.

"Game days at War Memorial are a true highlight for the state’s capital city and they’re an experience unlike any other," Mayor Frank Scott Jr. says. "The City of Little Rock is proud to host the Razorbacks as we also celebrate the 75th year of War Memorial Stadium. The stadium and War Memorial Park have been the site of so many great memories for Hog fans over the years, and we’re excited about the season opener."

Along with events surrounding the game, the city is also encouraging local businesses to get in on the Arkansas pride by wearing Razorback merch, decorating store windows and offering themed specials, so keep an eye on your favorite local spots.

"Razorback games have always been an exciting time for families and fans to gather to celebrate our Hogs, and nothing says ‘community’ quite like a game played at War Memorial Stadium," Little Rock Regional Chamber President and CEO Jay Chesshir says. "Not only does this event bring Razorback fans together, but it also showcases our beautiful city along with the restaurants, entertainment venues and friendly atmosphere that residents and visitors alike have come to love."
