There’s about to be a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on in Dogtown. This week the Argenta Community Theater kicks off its 2022-2023 season with its premiere of “Memphis the Musical.”
The Tony-winning show (for best musical, in fact) tells the story of Huey and Felicia in 1950s Memphis, as the ACT puts it, “a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a Black club singer who is ready for her big break.”
Packed with bring-the-house-down music and dancing, plus plenty of heart, “Memphis” is the perfect way to kickstart the ACT season.
Opening night is this Friday, July 22. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. “Memphis” runs through July 30, including preview nights July 20-21.
The rest of the season includes “Driving Miss Daisy,” “White Christmas,” “The Producers,” “Cinderella” and “Crimes of the Heart.”
