Forget the cake. We’re ready to celebrate America’s birthday with a full-on feast.

Each Fourth of July, we gather with friends and family for fun, fireworks and, perhaps most importantly, delicious food. But this year, we want something different besides the same old hamburgers, potato salad and watermelon slices on our tables.

So we’re upping our spreads with the assistance of Porch Swing Farms. Holly Payne and Aaron Baldwin, the duo behind the sustainable central Arkansas farm, are firing up our taste buds with their signature sausage fireballs made with their locally raised, heritage-breed pork.

Porch Swing Sausage Fireballs

  • 1 lb. Porch Swing Farms Bold Sausage (For a milder version, try the Farmer's Favorite Breakfast Sausage)

  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar

  • 1/2 cup finely shredded parmesan

  • 1/2 tsp. dry parsley

  • 1/2 tsp. dry rosemary, crumbled

  • 3 cups baking mix, Bisquick or a similar product

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and prep two baking sheets with silicone mats or parchment paper.

  • Mix the ingredients using a stand mixer with a paddle attachment or with your hands.

  • Form the batter into golf ball-sized balls and place at least one inch apart on the baking sheets.

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes.

  • Serve with sriracha or another spicy sauce for extra heat or, for milder palates, serve with barbeque sauce or honey mustard.

Whether chilling poolside, spending time on the lake or hosting a backyard barbecue, there’s no better way to let freedom ring than with good food. Take the party to the next level with farmers’ market favorites like Porch Swing Farms, which offers products for pickup and free Saturday delivery in Little Rock.
