"Songs of Freedom" Concert at the Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site // As part of their summer tour, the Jazz Ambassadors (the US Army's official field band, aka "America's Big Band") will host this free, outdoor jazz concert performing "Songs of Freedom: Stories from the Civil Rights Movement." Argenta Vibe Music Series at Argenta Plaza // Why, yes, the vibes are immaculate in Argenta this weekend. The NLR neighborhood is continuing its new (free!) outdoor concert series with live music from North Mississippi Allstars, plus local food trucks, drinks, VIP tickets and an after party at Four Quarter Bar. Great Cross Country Race at Boyle Park // What's a little sweat between friends? Ok, maybe it's a lot of sweat, but this 43rd annual run makes it worth it. The theme this year is "Happy Trails in the Wild South," which of course means western wear is encouraged, cowboy hats will abound and there's even a feast for all the hungry cowpokes. Mural Painting Event at Eighth & Main Streets // Ever wanted to try your hand at painting a mural? Here's an easy way to do just that. The Arkansas Arts Council and Downtown Little Rock Partnership are teaming up to host this community event where locals of all ages can help bring a vision to life. BrunchFest at The Hall // Hold on to your stretchy pants, it's back. When The Centers for Youth & Families held its first BrunchFest in 2019, it was a hit. After two years of COVID cancellations and distancing, the fest is officially on, serving up some of the area's best brunch bites and beverages. Bark Bar x Bang-Up Betty Release Party at Bark Bar // Looks like Dogtown just got a few more paws. Local maker Bang-Up Betty is collabbing with Bark Bar for a new collection of jewelry and stickers for dog lovers, and they're launching it with a day of food, drinks and four-legged fun. ZZ Top at First Security Amphitheater // Honestly, how they're dressed doesn't matter. This show will be one to remember. Arkansas Travelers at Dickey-Stephens Park // Peanuts and Cracker Jacks on deck. The Travs are in town this weekend with games each night against the Frisco RoughRiders. Game time is at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday, 7:05 Friday and Saturday and at 1:35 p.m. on Sunday. There's even a special campout event on Friday night after the fireworks where you can pitch a tent on the field and watch "Monsters Inc." on the big screen. Learn more here.
