It's a good week for barbecue lovers.
Count Porkula BBQ just announced it's teaming up with JTJ Restaurants LLC. to open a new standalone restaurant in Midtown with plans to open in early 2022. Located at 201 Keightly Drive, just north of the Mississippi and Cantrell intersection, it will be in the former Ozark Country Restaurant space.
Count Porkula, which began as a food truck before opening its first brick and mortar restaurant at The Rail Yard in 2018, will have 2,900 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining at its second location. The new restaurant will serve up its fan-favorite menu that includes pulled pork nachos and award-winning ribs alongside a full bar, curbside and to-go service and online ordering.
"The entire team at JTJ has been great to work with and their experience in the food industry has opened our eyes to new processes and procedures in our current spot at The Rail Yard and our new Keightly location," says Walt Todd, Count Porkula co-owner. "The new central location is going to allow us to bring west Little Rock, Heights and Hillcrest and various other locations together for a barbeque experience like no other."
JTJ Restaurants is the local group run by the Keet family that owns and operates Petit & Keet and Cypress Social, as well as 11 Taziki's Mediterranean Cafes and a Waldo's Chicken & Beer in Oklahoma. Michael Bodnar of Fresh Hospitality and Mark Waldo of Waldo’s Chicken are also joining the partnership.
"[Co-owner Kelly Lovell] and Walt have all the attributes we look for in partnerships," says JTJ president Tommy Keet, "an unwavering commitment to quality and customer service, determination, character, a strong work ethic and amazing food!"
