The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra is starting the year with a heart-filled show. "Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet" will take the Robinson Center stage this weekend, continuing the season's Stella Boyle Smith Masterworks Series.

The star of the show is Sergei Prokofiev's "Romeo & Juliet Suite No. 1-3," a "passionate, emotional, heart-wrenching" work described by ASO Artistic Director Geoffrey Robson as "one of the most iconic symphonic pieces of the 20th century."

The lineup also includes Beethoven’s "Leonore Overture No. 3" and Gabriel Pierné's "Concert Piece for Harp and Orchestra" featuring harpist Alisa Coffey.

"We can’t wait to open the new year by featuring one of our own," Robson says. "Principal harpist Alisa Coffey is a tremendous artist, and it will be a joy to see her at the front of the stage as our featured soloist."

Before each performance, the ASO will host a pre-concert conversation with conductor Akiko Fujimoto and feature select musical samplings. These are open to all ticket holders and begin an hour before each concert.

You have two chances to see the show: Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Click here to secure your spot.
