When a big event isn't in the cards, what's the next best thing? For Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas (BBBSCA), it's two whole weeks of auctions and fundraising.
BBBSCA launches its inaugural Dream Big virtual auction on Monday, Nov. 9, with lots of adventures and experiences up for grabs. The online auction officially closes at 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, just in time for the gift-giving season.
"We are excited to help support BBBSCA by providing one-of-a-kind experiences that will make for incredible gifts this holiday season," says Annemarie Dillard Jazic, event chair and BBBSCA board member. "Winners are sure to have a once-in-a-lifetime memory and assurance that their generosity helps strengthen our community and supports our local youth."
Here's a sneak peek at what's on the lineup:
- new mountain bike and a guided exploration of the Monument Trails with Steuart Walton
- virtual private cooking class with "Modern Pioneering" star Georgia Pellegrini (pictured above) and $500 of kitchen equipment from Dillard’s
- one-on-one NFL-style football training session with NFL veteran D.J. Williams
Proceeds from Dream Big will go toward BBBSCA's mission to create and support mentoring relationships to help kids reach their potential. COVID-19 has brought many challenges for the nonprofit, but BBBSCA continues to find new ways to provide the services it believes in.
"These children have a higher likelihood of going to college, finding meaningful careers and being standup members of society, all thanks to the special one-to-one mentorship opportunity that Big Brothers Big Sisters provides them,” says executive director Tracy Matson. "We currently have 80 deserving children on our waitlist in central Arkansas that are raising their hands and asking for support”.
