Among Black Arkansans, women own almost 60% of businesses while men own 38%. According to the Women's Foundation of Arkansas, they're the only group of women who outpace men of the same race in business ownership, and yet they face more disparities in wealth and resources.
"This is due to systemic inequities built into our financial, entrepreneurial support and social systems that were built to disadvantage Black women not only for their gender, but also for their race," the WFA says.
