The organization’s trucks rescue 13,000 pounds of nutritious leftover food a day from local restaurants, grocery stores and other sources.

Potluck Food Rescue is gearing up for their annual fundraising event, Driving Away Hunger, on Thursday, Sept. 12, and celebrating a big milestone. The nonprofit is celebrating 30 years of service in central Arkansas and will kick off the next 30 years at Driving Away Hunger.

This year's event will feature delicious food from the Arkansas Heart Hospital's Food From the Heart food truck, along with area chefs, live music from the Brandon Dorris Trio, beer and wines from Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. Don't worry about getting your suit pressed — this is a casual event, but you are welcome to wear a tie or your favorite ballgown. Up to you.

Driving Away Hunger serves to raise money for Potluck Food Rescue's ongoing efforts to save good food from being wasted and use it to feed hungry people in Arkansas.

The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Potluck Food Rescue headquarters at 621 W. Broadway in North Little Rock. For more info, head to the Facebook event page.
