The Arkansas Arts Center is giving the elves, hobbits and humans alike what they really want — an adults-only evening of "Hobbit"-filled fun. On Thursday, May 9, the AAC will put on a special performance of "The Hobbit" for those 21 and up.

The 7 p.m. showing will feature specialty drinks and snacks as folks adventure to Middle Earth and back again. Guests are invited to come dressed as their favorite "Hobbit" character to participate in the costume contest and peruse pop-up shops by Shire Post Mint and the AAC Museum Shop.

The play will show at the AAC from April 26-May 12 for the whole family. It follows the tale of Bilbo Baggins, a tried and true homebody, as he sets off rather reluctantly on the adventure of a lifetime.

Other notable evenings include the opening night dinner at Watercolor in the Park on April 26; on May 3 when the AAC invites the public to toss on their best pajamas for a Children's Theatre performance; and on Saturday, May 4, for an American Sign Language-interpreted performance.

Tickets to the adults-only night are $10 for members and $20 for non-members. Tickets to the play are $10 for members and $12.50 for non-members. For more info about the play or performances, head to the AAC's website.
