Little Rock Soirée magazine recently announced the launch of the Soirée Women’s Leadership Symposium, a half-day event inviting women in Arkansas to celebrate their power to transform communities and industries.

The debut event will take place on Thursday, May 16, at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Little Rock, and will feature a day of speakers and sessions devoted to building professional skills, networking, opening conversations and creating a collaborative movement to bring professionals together.

According to Soirée publisher Mandy Richardson, the event follows the lead of parent company Arkansas Business Publishing Group's drive to create similar programs, including the 2018 launch of the Arkansas Business Executive Leadership Program.

"With Soirée's dedication to raising up people and organizations in central Arkansas, a female-focused program was the natural next step," Richardson says. "And what we realized as we were talking to businesses is that there are plenty of networking events, but we lacked broad-based professional development opportunities. Most people go out of state or online for these trainings.

"The Soirée Women's Leadership Symposium provides the state with a chance to gather in our own backyard to build skills, transfer knowledge from today's female key players to tomorrow's leaders and empower women and businesses to continue finding success."

Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisberg, co-founders and co-CEOs of theSkimm, are the 2019 featured keynote speakers. The company started with the Daily Skimm, an email newsletter with approximately 7 million subscribers, and has grown to include an app, a video/audio production team and much more. Zakin and Weisberg have made the top young pro lists of Forbes, Vanity Fair, Fortune, Adweek and Goldman Sachs.

The day's programming will give attendees the chance to hear from and interact with speakers including industry experts, entrepreneurs, political leaders, C-suite executives and influencers focusing on women in the workplace.

Additional symposium sessions include:

  • Navigating the Boardroom and Beyond
  • Financial Literacy
  • Employment Law: Gender Equity
  • Demystifying the Political Process
  • Entrepreneurship: Turning Your Dreams Into A Reality
  • Building Your Brand: Knowing Your Own Worth
